Data deletion

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Hide and Seek deletes every comment it has copied 23 days after copying it, without anyone having to ask. Backups expire after 7 days, so no copy lasts more than 30 days. The steps below are for deleting data sooner.

If you commented on a Page, Instagram account or YouTube channel

Hide and Seek may hold a copy of your public comment, your display name, username, a link to your profile picture and the platform's ID for you, on behalf of the organization that runs that account.

  1. Email privacy@kavanahanalytics.com with the subject "Hide and Seek data deletion".
  2. Tell us the platform (Facebook, Instagram or YouTube), the name of the Page, account or channel you commented on, and your profile name or a link to your profile or comment, so we can find your comments.
  3. We delete every copy we hold within 30 days, including any allowlist entry or ban record an organization made for you, and email you when it is done.

Deleting your comment on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube removes it from the platform; our copy is then deleted within 23 days at the latest, or sooner if you email us.

If you connected a Facebook Page, Instagram account or YouTube channel

  1. Sign in to Hide and Seek and open Social Accounts from the sidebar.
  2. Choose Disconnect on the account.

Disconnecting deletes the account's access token and every comment, reply and note copied from it straight away.

You can also remove Hide and Seek's access on the platform itself:

After you remove access on the platform, Hide and Seek can no longer read anything new. Comments it already copied are deleted within 23 days, or straight away if you also disconnect the account in Hide and Seek or email us.

If you have a Hide and Seek user account

  1. Sign in and open Settings.
  2. Choose Delete account and confirm.

This deletes your profile, sign-in details and sessions. If you own an organization, transfer ownership or delete the organization first. The organization's audit log keeps a record of the moderation actions you took, but it is no longer linked to you.
